A Springfield real estate company apparently is under criminal investigation by federal agencies, though the nature of the case is unclear. Bonnie MacLeod, special agent for the criminal investigation at Internal Revenue Service said that authorities served a federal search warrant Tuesday morning at Charles E. Walker Realty at 3662 S. Glenstone Ave. in Springfield. Computers and various documents were seized, but the authorities made no arrest and filed no charges. She said she could not disclose details on the investigation. MacLeod said her office usually looks into cases that involve tax violations, tax fraud, money laundering, narcotics violations and violations of the Bank Secrecy Act. Charles Walker, owner the business, declined on Tuesday to talk about the case with the News-Leader. MacLeod said that participating in the Tuesday action were agents from IRS Criminal Investigation and U.S. Secret Service as well as officers from Missouri Highway Patrol, Missouri Water Patrol and Springfield Police. The real estate company was not shut down but the business was not operational Tuesday. Agents arrived at the realty company around 10 a.m. Tuesday and gave employees the opportunity to leave. According to the Greater Springfield Multiple Listing Service, Walker Realty has 24 agents and 61 active listings, a reference to properties listed but not under contract. By M.
